3D Rendering Services California
I provide 3D rendering services across California — architectural stills, interiors, aerials, fly-through animation and VR — from a studio run by a licensed California architect rather than a production house. Projects run remotely statewide; I travel for on-site VR and hearings in San Diego and Orange County.
Most rendering companies in California are staffed by 3D artists who learned architecture from the software. I came the other way: two decades as a software engineer, then a California architecture license, then high-end residential design in communities like Shady Canyon in Irvine. When your set arrives, I am reading it, not interpreting it — which is why the wall thicknesses, the mullion spacing and the shadow angles come back right the first time.
3D Rendering Services Offered Statewide
- Exterior architectural rendering — day, dusk and night versions of the same view, with real sun angles for the site's latitude and date.
- Interior rendering — specified finishes, real fixtures, and lighting that matches the actual specification rather than a stock look.
- Aerial and site-context rendering — the building set into the real terrain, neighbours and horizon, from survey data.
- Fly-through animation — presentation and marketing video built from the same model as the stills.
- VR and AR presentations — full-scale Meta headset walkthroughs, delivered on site in Southern California or shipped statewide.
- 3D modeling and BIM — from 2D drawings, or straight from your Revit set, with material lists and quantity takeoffs.
Every deliverable comes out of one coordinated model, so a still, an animation and a VR walkthrough of the same project agree with each other and with your drawings.
Who Hires a California Rendering Service
Architects and design firms who need presentation images that will not embarrass them in front of a client who reads plans. Developers pre-selling before a wall goes up, who need images accurate enough to survive a buyer walking the finished unit. Builders and contractors resolving a detail before it gets framed wrong. Homeowners in design review who need a board to see what is actually proposed.
Statewide, the work splits roughly between coastal Southern California custom homes, multifamily and mixed-use in the metro areas, and design-review and entitlement exhibits — the projects where a rendering is evidence, not decoration.
How a Statewide Project Runs
1. Send drawings. AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or PDF. Add a survey where views, height or a bluff edge matter.
2. Scope and quote. I confirm the views, the level of detail, the deliverables and a delivery date before anything is modelled. No open-ended hourly.
3. Camera and lighting. You approve angles before render time is spent, so revisions are about design, not framing.
4. First pass and revisions. Two revision rounds are included in a standard package.
5. Delivery. 4K TIFF and JPEG for stills, standard video formats for animation, and native files or IFC where the model itself is a deliverable.
Everything but the on-site VR runs remotely, which is why a project in Sacramento or the Bay Area runs the same as one in San Diego.
Why Not an Overseas Rendering Company
Offshore studios optimise for volume and price, and for a marketing image that no one will scrutinise, they are often the right call. The gap shows up when the image has to be correct: a licensing question, a design review exhibit, a detail your contractor will build from, a buyer comparing the render to the finished room. A studio that cannot read a California code section or a coastal setback will produce something that looks convincing and is wrong — and you will not find out until it matters.
You also get one person. There is no account manager between you and the model, and no overnight time-zone gap between a question and an answer.
Where I Work in California
Rendering, modeling and animation are handled remotely for clients anywhere in California. On-site VR presentations, design review appearances and project meetings are routine across San Diego and Orange County, and available elsewhere in the state by arrangement.
For community-specific detail — height limits, view ordinances, bluff setbacks and the review boards you will be designing against — see the local pages for La Jolla, Del Mar, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Point Loma, Coronado, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Dana Point, or the full service area list.
Looking for the service detail rather than the statewide overview? See 3D architectural rendering, 3D modeling, BIM, fly-through animation and VR/AR presentations.
